Mediocrity and Writing

Fair warning! This is going to come across as a rant!

I used to read a lot. Long beautifully expressed and explained blog posts, articles and newsletters. It was obvious, the writers had spent hours pouring over every line, editing them out, ever ready to kill their darlings.

The AI overlords have arisen now and every mediocre writer now can churn out something that “reads decent” and at a scale that is unfathomable.

They can research thanks to AI tools and convince themselves that what they are producing something beautiful and valuable. Beware the writer who loves generating content via AI.

They are at best mediocre and almost all of them are mediocre thinkers. Because they have not taken the time to find themselves and be authentic.

I am not sure what the solution really is, but just someone please send me something real to read and not some soulless peice with 2 rocket emojis and sixteen paragraphs of hallucinogenic bureaucratic drivel

The drivel that could only be conjured by someone who have unfortunately outsourced their thinking to a AI model and blissfully do the boring repetitive tasks of copy pasting and adding 2.5 emojis and editing out “—” to personalise their writing.

I did warn you at the beginning. This was a rant!

Writing is in dire straits and it’s only going to get worse, but there will come a point when all writing will start looking the same and people will realize what the fuck has happened and good writers with good writing will start being valued again and writing such long sentences with so many ands won’t be scary anymore and all will be well . (Wish I could add 2.5 emojis but I can only add one so I guess that makes a shitty writer)

Anyway you asked for it so read this- https://wowashuwow.com/blog/the-guilt-of-fitness

No drivel, not soulless, and most importantly, no 🚀
